Denrele Edun and family attacked by armed robbers at their home

Denrele Edun and his family were attacked by armed robbers around 3am early this morning at their family home in Ebute Metta, Yaba. Denrele, his sister, father, grandmother and cousins were all home when the 5 armed men broke into their home. They carted away property - grandma's jewellery, cash, phones, laptops, watches, gadgets and a brand new plasma screen - but thankfully no one was seriously injured. The insecurity in this country...Dear Lord!

Statement on fire outbreak at M-Net studios in Ojota yesterday

Below is a statement released by M-Net...

It has been confirmed that a fire broke out yesterday afternoon (Saturday March 2, 2013) at the Ojoto Studios facility, which is home to both M-Net and SuperSport productions in Nigeria.  At this time, the fire is under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Whilst the fire appears to have caused significant damage to the facility, which may result in some screening delays for programs recorded on site, M-Net and SuperSport are already hard at work with a view to resuming production as soon as possible in order to minimize any impact on viewing audiences at home.  Further M-Net, SuperSport and MultiChoice are deeply thankful and grateful that no-one was injured during this unfortunate incident.

Finally, M-Net has confirmed that the fire will not affect its plans for next weekend when it hosts its inaugural AfricaMagic Viewers' Choice Awards, in association with MultiChoice, which is to be screened live from Lagos to over 50 countries on the African continent.

Slain Afro pop singer, Damino Damoche, buried

The murdered fast rising singer was buried in Badagry yesterday Saturday March 2nd, two days after he was gunned down in front of his school, Lagos State University. Damoche had already boarded a bus in front of the school when his attackers asked him to get down. He was shot twice in the head.

The 26 year old is survived by his mum and siblings. Rest in Peace!

26-Years-Old Woman Gives Birth Twice In 9 Months

A woman has defiled all medical odds after giving birth to 2 babies in the space of 9 months, even though she was using contraception both times before she got pregnant.

Coping with a newborn baby can be tough, so spare a thought for Claire Ormrod who has had to do it twice in the space of just nine months.
Her son and daughter were born in such quick succession that they will even be in the same class at school.
But what is just as remarkable is that the babies survived at all after 26-year-old Miss Ormrod suffered dangerous complications during both pregnancies.
Daughter Alice arrived 15 weeks prematurely, weighing only 1lb 3oz, while Gareth weighed little more at 2lb when he was born 11 weeks early.
So serious were their conditions that both were in special care units at the same time, but in hospitals 230 miles apart. Their mother said: ‘I’m just so grateful they are both still with us.’

Miss Ormrod has three older children, Molly (7), Jack (5) and Charlie, (2) and was on the contraceptive pill when she became pregnant with Gareth.
She said: ‘I was absolutely petrified when I found out I was pregnant again. All of my children, apart from Molly, have been born progressively early, so I convinced myself I was going to have another very early, premature baby.
‘My GP said I should have a termination. He said [the pregnancy] would end up killing me and the baby and that it wouldn’t be fair to put me through it. But I said no.’

Dog Shoots Owner In The Leg With Handgun. Police Say They Wont Arrest The Dog

Police in Florida say they have no plans to arrest a dog who shot his owner in the leg, having determined that the shooting was accidental.

35-year-old Gregory Dale Lanier of Frostproof was driving his pickup truck along State Road 17 North, when his dog kicked a 9mm pistol that was on the floor, causing it to discharge.

Lanier, who said he thought the gun wasn’t loaded, was struck in the leg. He told police he “heard boom, saw smoke and felt a burning in his leg.”

Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr said Lanier was not seriously injured.

Carr also noted that he had never come across a case like this before, but somehow neglected to work in something about every dog having their day.

Only in America police can arrest dogs. The dog was obviously not black if not he would get nothing less than 3 concurrent life sentences. I think Nigeria can learn from this, then maybe our dogs will start to hear word. Lol.

Two lovers banned from seeing each other by their parents brought traffic to a standstill when they stripped off and threatened to leap from a bridge. The couple kept police and rescuers at bay for more than two hours as they stayed locked in a passionate clinch on a flyover 30ft above a motorway in China.

“Our parents say we can’t be together but we want to show people we have nothing to hide,” they told a bemused crowd in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. “We won’t come down until everyone has seen how much we mean to each other and that our parents will never be able to pull us apart,” they added. Bridge protests have become common in China, but public Unclothedness is still considered scandalously shocking.

“We waited for the high wind and the cold air to cool off their passion and eventually they gave themselves up. “Our biggest problem was blocking the traffic so motorists didn’t drive into each other trying to get a better look,” said a police spokesman.
